Description

This irresistible hot spinach dip is a creamy, cheesy appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings. Made with fresh spinach, cream cheese, sour cream, and a blend of cheddar and mozzarella, it bakes to a warm, bubbly, and golden brown delight that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 10 ounces fresh spinach

Dairy

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar and mozzarella, reserved some for topping)

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the dip.
  2. Sauté Spinach: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the washed fresh spinach until wilted. Remove from heat and chop the spinach finely to prepare it for mixing.
  3. Mix Creamy Base: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy, creating the base of the dip.
  4. Add Cheese and Seasonings: Add shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the creamy base. Mix everything together thoroughly.
  5. Fold in Spinach: Gently fold the finely chopped spinach into the cheese mixture until well combined to distribute the spinach evenly.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Pour the dip mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved shredded cheese on top for a golden cheesy crust.
  7. Bake the Dip: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the dip is bubbly and golden brown on top. Remove and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes or a handful of grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Use fresh spinach for the best texture, but frozen spinach thawed and drained can be substituted if needed.
  • Serve the dip with toasted baguette slices, tortilla chips, or fresh vegetable sticks.
  • Make sure to chop the spinach finely after sautéing to avoid large chunks in the dip.
  • Allow the dip to cool slightly after baking for easier serving and better flavor melding.
