Description

This Taco Pizza is a delicious fusion of Mexican flavors and classic pizza, combining seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, and fresh toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, and olives. It’s quick to prepare, perfect for a family dinner or casual get-together, with a crispy baked crust and vibrant, flavorful toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pizza Base

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

For the Taco Meat

  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter version)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water

For the Cheese and Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • ½ cup salsa or taco sauce

Optional Garnishes

  • Sour cream
  • Jalapeños
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Crumbled tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well for a crispier crust.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and ½ cup water. Simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Pizza Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your preferred size and thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone. If using store-bought dough, follow any package instructions for pre-baking if required.
  4. Assemble the Pizza: Spread a thin, even layer of salsa or taco sauce over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border at the edge. Evenly distribute the seasoned ground beef over the sauce. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top of the beef.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and the crust turns golden brown and crisp.
  6. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the baked pizza from the oven. Top it with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, diced red onions, and sliced black olives. Optionally garnish with sour cream, jalapeños, cilantro, and crumbled tortilla chips for added flavor and texture.
  7. Slice and Serve: Slice the pizza into desired portions and serve immediately to enjoy fresh and flavorful taco-inspired pizza.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for a leaner meat option.
  • For a crispier crust, use a preheated pizza stone.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce if you like more heat.
  • Customize toppings based on preference—avocado slices or green onions work well.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat oven or skillet for best texture.
